There are many  applications where an ultrasonic flow meter is the best choice. When using these meters, there is no need to cut the pipe, stop the flow or interrupt any process since the measurement principle is based on ultrasonic propagation through sensors attached to the outer pipe wall and are not in contact with the process liquid. Accurate measurements of flow velocity and volume can be obtained literally seconds after installation of the transducers onto most pipes. As long as the material of the pipe is sonically conductive e.g. metal, plastic or glass- there should be not problem in obtaining flow readings . These readings can then be either be stored by an internal data logger or  sent to other  locations via analog or digital outputs.

From the user friendly menu, a choice of liquids is possible such as water or water based liquids, chemicals and even oil.  The ultrasonic flow meter setup is very simple because the correction factors for these liquids is already programmed into the meters at the factory. All the user has to do is to select the type of liquid from a list which can be scrolled down using the meter menu. The installation normally takes a few minutes and involves clamping the sensors onto the outside of the pipe. The clamping distance is computed once certain process and pipe data have been entered into the unit.
